Lovable Trudy

Trudy was the beginning of this endeavor.  She came to us in 2005 and I can tell you she was the most precious gift I have ever received.  I told my sister in law that if she had offered Trudy or $1 million , I would have taken Trudy hands down.  Not long after we got her I was in a very serious wreck and had to undergo months of recovery.  Trudy was by my side the whole time.   She very carefully walked beside me on my walker to make sure I didn't fall. She was my round the clock nurse and friend.  Trudy slept at the end of my hospital bed that I had to come home with and always woke up when I did. And by the way, she snores.   But, if I needed help she barked to alert my husband in the other room.  She was dependable and just a wonderful nurse maid to me and I love her so much.  After I recovered, my husband and I were playing rummy one night and as usual I had won every game and he jokingly stood up and loudly stated, “ I ought to choke you”.  Trudy did not take to that joke very well and was instantly there in between us and ready to defend me if need be.  She doesn’t like arguing so we have to make sure she is outside if we need to yell at each other.. Ha ha

She has protected my granddaughter on many occasions, one of which she kept her from getting bit by a snake.  The newest addition is our beautiful granddaughter Zoey, who was born 4-4-09.  When Miss Zoey is here, Trudy is on the job and lays next to her bed and quickly alerts us when she wakes.  She is the guardian of our family.  She is so important to us and I just can’t imagine my life without her.  She is the caretaker and she loves her job.  I am so thankful to have this wonderful dog and to me she is part of my family.  I hope you find the devotion and love that we have found in our Trudy.  She was truly the inspiration for Elkies of Alexander.

My Story

In 2005 I  “inherited” my first Norwegian elkhound as a favor to a family member that was relocating.  It only took me about 2 days to realize there was something very special about this dog.  I have never been so happy to have an animal in my life as I have been with Trudy.  She is the most intelligent, wonderful, family oriented dog you can imagine.  This breed is the best ever and now my love has carried me into a family of 11  elkies.  I have become a hobby breeder of Norwegian Elkhounds as I know there must be others out there like me that want this breed but unable to obtain one.  First and foremost they are my pets but if I can help others to have an elkhound as part of their family, I want to do that.  I hope you come to love your elkie, as I have  mine… All 11 of them.

Zoey and Trudy

Zoey is 4 now and her and Trudy are still best pals.  As Trudy gets older, she is slowing down some.  But her love for Zoey remains strong and she is still very protective of her.  What a beautiful pair!!!
